Heritage Assets Retained at Stonebridge Beck

The developers of the new Stonebridge Beck residential development in Farnley have ensured that a number of assets of major historical significance will be retained.

The imposing Victorian mill chimney, the water tower and the mill pond are amongst the original features of the 150 year old former Stonebridge Mills site which are being sympathetically restored to ensure that the link to the area’s industrial past is retained for future generations to enjoy.

Tim Reeve, speaking on behalf of the joint developers Rushbond Plc and Advent Developments, said: “We have been clear from the very start of the project that we wanted to make these wonderful assets an integral part of the scheme and have invested significantly to ensure this is the case.

“We are very aware of the privilege and responsibility that comes with redeveloping a heritage site that has been part of the fabric of the area for such a long time and we are fully committed to creating a lasting legacy.”

On completion the site will provide over 100 homes, including contemporary new build and heritage properties. The centre piece of the scheme however is the Grade II Listed former mill building which is being restored and converted into spectacular mill townhouses incorporating unique features such as high ceilings, thick walls and large windows to maximise the natural light. These are complemented by a superb internal specification.

The former workers cottages and workshops are also being given a new lease of life and will make wonderful new homes.

New Homes Advisor, Giselle Ledgard commented: “The overall scheme offers a choice of house types which will appeal to a range of buyers and all within a secluded parkland environment alongside Wortley Beck. It is hard to believe that the site is so close to the centre of Leeds and a number of schools. local amenities ad major transport links.”

There are currently three show homes available to view on an appointment only basis, including a stunning mill townhouse.
