The community-focussed developers of the Stonebridge Beck development in Farnley are supporting the annual Christmas bauble competition at a local school.
Ryecroft Primary Academy holds the festive competition every year when the talented pupils create colourful baubles to decorate the school Christmas tree.
This year the competition has been extended to include parents and carers, with the best entry from a family member receiving a fabulous Christmas hamper generously donated by Rushbond Plc and Advent Developments, the joint developers of the new residential scheme on Stonebridge Lane.
Helen Townsley, Principal at Ryecroft Academy, said: “Christmas is a wonderful time at our school and the Christmas competition is something we look forward to every year. The children are encouraged to think about sustainability and the environment in their designs so recycling is at the heart of many of their amazing creations.
“For the first time we have incorporated a family dimension to this competition and thanks to the generosity of Rushbond and Advent the winner will receive a hamper packed full of goodies, including a few Percy Pig treats for the children, just in time for Christmas.”
Once the competition has finished the school will gift some of the baubles to Manor House, the local residential home for the elderly, with whom the school collaborate regularly.
Jo Tyreman of Advent Developments called at the school recently with the hamper and said: “It was lovely to visit the school and meet some of the children and staff.
“Community is very much at the heart of what we are creating at Stonebridge Beck and it is a real pleasure to support Ryecroft Academy which is one of a number of excellent schools on the doorstep.”
When completed Stonebridge Beck will provide 112 homes, including contemporary new build and heritage properties. The Grade II Listed former mill building is being converted into spectacular townhouses, while the former workers’ cottages and workshops have also been given a new lease of life.
